Question

What is probate?

Answer

Probate is the court-supervised process of administering a deceased person’s assets and authenticating their will. However, probate can be triggered with or without a will. In cases where the deceased person does not have a will, assets are divided according to state law. Assets with beneficiary designations, joint ownership, or held in trust usually bypass the probate process.
