The Content Specialist plays a key role in our organic growth strategy by developing content to support multi-channel prospect nurturing campaigns designed to deliver the right message, on the right channel, at the right time.  You’ll create compelling content, aligned to the buyer’s journey designed to help move prospects through the decision-making process more effectively. You understand how to target messages based on the purpose of the piece and the persona you are targeting, regardless of the delivery channel. You’ll work collaboratively with the Content Marketing Manager to generate written content for publication in media outlets, the Wealth Enhancement Group Blog, email campaigns, guidebooks, presentations and more.  Additionally, you’ll serve as project manager for our radio show, act as managing editor of our digital newsletter and curator of our award-winning blog.

The ideal candidate for this position is not only an excellent communicator but understands the value of communication as catalyst for change; a demonstrable understanding of content marketing best practices and a willingness to challenge the status quo.  Experience in the financial services or other heavily regulated industry and/or familiarity with AP style a plus.

 Job Functions

  1. Develop content aligned with the buyer’s journey in support of multi-channel, evergreen marketing campaigns
    • Distill complex financial topics into clear, concise messages while communicating our firm’s unique value.
    • Using content arcs to drive new content creation, create engaging, multi-channel content to support marketing objectives.
    • Find creative ways to repurpose and reinvent our top-performing existing content.
    • Ensure all messaging supports our brand and is in alignment with established style standards (AP based)
    • Manage content creation process allowing time for subject matter experts, brand and compliance colleagues to review and edit.
    • Strategically align content across the buyer’s journey, optimized by channel, to get the right message, to the right person, at the right time. 
  1. Serve as project manager for the “Your Money” Radio Show
    • Develop engaging topics, content outline and curate listener-submitted questions for the weekly “Your Money” radio show, Money Minutes segments and promotional ads.
    • Edit post production radio show content, secure compliance approval and upload to the Wealth Enhancement Group website; maintain the radio show online archive.
    • Partner with radio station affiliates to ensure timely delivery of “Your Money” radio show.
    • Be able to coordinate a live radio show should market conditions require one. 
  1. Coordinate regular publishing strategy
    • Develop editorial calendar for weekly, biweekly and monthly articles that are published in regional and national media outlets and our blog.
    • Partner with key subject matter experts to research, write and/or edit all articles.
    • Manage quarterly content arc.
    • Analyze highest performing content and work with digital marketing strategist to improve SEO results. 

Position Requirements

  • Strong writing and oral communication skills, including: writing key messages, creating presentations, writing articles and emails that conform to prescribed style and format guidelines.
  • Must be willing to collaborate on content creation, you view being edited as an opportunity to learn through constructive feedback.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office Suite, especially Word and PowerPoint. Experience with HubSpot, MarketingCloud, Adobe Audition and Salesforce is a plus.
  • Experience making a business case for a new strategy, approach, or recommendation preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated and independent, well-organized, able to work with a minimum of supervision. 

Education/Certification Requirements

  • College degree required. English, Journalism, Marketing or Communications preferred.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years in marketing, Journalism or marketing communications required.
  • Experience in financial services industry a plus.
